Alan MacDiarmid

Alan MacDiarmid () was born on April 14, 1927 in Masterton, New Zealand (). He held citizenship in both New Zealand() and Germany(). MacDiarmid was a chemist and engineer by occupation().

He studied at various institutions, including Victoria University of Wellington, Sidney Sussex College in Cambridge, University of Cambridge, and University of Wisconsin–Madison(). His research focused on silicon chemistry().

MacDiarmid received numerous awards throughout his career, including the 2000 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, the 2004 Friendship Award, the 2002 NAS Member, and he became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2003().

He passed away on February 7, 2007, in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania().
