Career

Zoe Elizabeth Sugg was born on March 28, 1990 in Lacock, Wiltshire, England. She has one brother, Joe Sugg. Zoe attended The Corsham School and Arts College growing up and left school with A Levels in art, photography and textiles. She opted to not attend university because she didn’t know what she wanted to do in life.

As of September 2021, Zoe Sugg has more than 9.3 million followers on Instagram, 11 million subscribers on her primary YouTube channel, Zoella, and 4.92 million subscribers on her other YouTube channel, Zoe Sugg. She does not have an official TikTok account and her former Twitter account @zoesugg no longer exists.

Zoe was working in the fashion and interior design industry when she started her YouTube channel Zoella in 2007 and began posting videos of her “Hauls,” or purchases she would make, to her channel. At the same time, Zoe launched her blog “Zoella” online, and just a few years later, her blog was getting tens of millions of views a year.

The vlogger’s influence grew each year. In 2013, The Telegraph called her one of “Britain’s most influential Tweeters.” That same year, the National Citizen Service named her as one of their ambassadors. In 2014, she was named a Digital AMbassador for Mind, a mental health charity. She became a member of the Style Haul network.

In 2014, Zoe launched her first range of beauty products under the brand name Zoella. The bath and body series became the “biggest beauty launch of the year,” according to Metro. In the coming months, Zoe launched limited edition products for things like Christmas and different seasons.

Two years later, Zoe released a collection of home products exclusive to Boots. The products includes stationary, candles and reed diffusers. Each year after, Zoe would release limited edition collections with different UK retailers.

In 2020, Zoella Beauty and Zoella Lifestyle products were discontinued due to creative differences with her producers. The businesses reportedly earned 3.8 million Pounds a year.

In the meantime, Zoe began working on a limited edition make-up range with ColourPop Cosmetics. She later created her new homeware range with Etsy, featuring products she curated herself and with independent Etsy sellers.

In addition, Zoe created her own mobile photography map titled Filmm and later released Template, another mobile photography editing app for Instagram stories.

Zoe branched off in 2014 and wrote her very first book after signing a two-book deal with Penguin. Her debut novel, “Girl Online,” was released in 2014 and was a young adult novel. It became one of the fastest-selling books of the year. “Girl Online” had several follow-up books as well, “Girl Online: On Tour” in 2015 and “Girl Online: Going Solo” in 2016.

In 2018, Zoe published her nonfiction book “Cordially Invited.” In 2020, a novel she co-authored with Amy McCullogh titled “The Magpie Society: One for Sorrow,” was released.

Zoe has been in a relationship with fellow vlogger Alfie Deyes since 2012 and they have lived in Brighton since 2013 together
