Vincente Minnelli (born Lester Anthony Minnelli; February 28, 1903 – July 25, 1986) was an American film and theatre director. Born in Chicago, he had a successful career as a costume designer before transitioning to directing. Minnelli directed numerous notable works, including "Meet Me in St. Louis", "The Band Wagon", and "Brigadoon". He directed films in various genres, such as "Father of the Bride" and the Academy Award-winning "An American in Paris".
Minnelli was married multiple times throughout his life, with his most famous marriage being to actress and singer Judy Garland. Their daughter, Liza Minnelli, is also a successful actress and singer.
Throughout his career, Vincente Minnelli received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Director. He passed away on July 25, 1986, in Beverly Hills, California.
