This breed was created specifically taking into account the criteria of profitability of raising birds for slaughter. Features of the breed:
- The ability to gain weight quickly. After 2-3 months of fattening, it is already possible to send birds to slaughter. Carcasses do not lose their attractive presentation, and the meat has a delicate taste. The specialists made calculations and came to the conclusion that by this time the cost of keeping poultry will be completely covered by the profit from its sale. The cultivation of such a bird guarantees a high income.
- Unpretentiousness to conditions. Birds are unpretentious and will feel good and gain weight even under ordinary conditions.
- Strong immune system. Breeding work has led to the fact that Grade Maker turkeys have increased resistance to many diseases that can be detrimental to other breeds. This is a significant plus in favor of keeping this particular breed.
The main difficulty for cultivation is the need to comply with the temperature regime. In order for the birds to grow quickly and not die, it is necessary to maintain a comfortable temperature for them in the poultry house – 22-24 degrees.
The maximum weight of the bird is gained by 5 mo n ths – up to 20 kg. It does not always make sense to grow birds to the maximum size, since fattening takes a lot of financial costs that simply cannot be reimbursed from the profit of such a volume of meat. Turkeys are sent to slaughter in 3 months.
