Thomas Hughes

Thomas Hughes was born on October 20, 1822, in Oxfordshire, England. He was a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Hughes was a multi-faceted individual with occupations as a judge, writer, politician, novelist, and lawyer. He died in Brighton on March 22, 1896.

Hughes received his education at Rugby School and later attended Oriel College, Oxford. He wrote his notable novel, "Tom Brown's School Days", under the pseudonym Vacuus Viator. His father was John Hughes (1790–1857), and he had a child named Mary Hughes, who became a social worker.
