L-Theanine is an aminoacid extracted from green tea leaves. Theanine is psychoactive and it's effects are stress reduction, relaxation and supporting cognitive functions. It induces alpha waves brain functioning rhytm that usually appears with calm wakefulness or with closed eyes.

Molecule of theanine imitates the glutamate neurotransmitter and can activate NMDA and AMPA receprors and also inrease GABA levels.

Usage

L-theanine has effective sinergy with caffeine because it is supporting to concentrate the attention but removing caffeine side effects such as anxiety and extra stimulation. It's antistress activity is quite perceptible so it may be used without any other compounds.
