Gameplay
The Last of Us Part II is an action adventure with elements of survival horror and third-person stealth action. The player can use firearms and homemade weapons, a bow against hostile representatives of other factions and infected with the fungus cordyceps.
The Last of Us Part II expands the possibilities of the gameplay presented in the first part: the player can use the possibilities of the environment more widely, for example, occupy high points to gain an advantage or hide in the tall grass. The player can also pick up various items to improve the character's skill tree, divided into three categories: "Survival", "Crafting" and "Stealth". In the second part, dogs also appeared that are able to track the player's character by smell.
Plot
Five years later...
After a deadly journey through epidemic-ridden America, Ellie and Joel settled in Wyoming.
Having settled in a thriving community, they found the desired stability, despite the constant threat of attacks by infected and losing the meaning of the survivors' lives.
But one day, violent events destroy this calm, and Ellie sets off again to restore justice. Following the trail of those who violated the peace, she faces severe physical and emotional consequences of her actions.

Game development
Naughty Dog started developing a sequel immediately after the release of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
The game was announced on December 3, 2016 at the PlayStation Experience press conference, where the first trailer was shown with the heroes of the original part - Ellie and Joel.
On October 30, 2017, the second trailer of the game was shown at Paris Games Week, which features four new characters: Yara (played by Victoria Grace), Lev (Ian Alexander), Emily (Emily Swallow) and Abby (Laura Bailey).
On June 12, 2018, the game was presented at Sony E3 2018, where the gameplay of the game was presented for the first time.
On February 22, 2018, during a speech at the "D.I.C.E. Summit 2018", the game's lead screenwriter Neil Drakmann stated that the black comedy "The End of the *** World" (Eng. The End Of The F***ing World) from Netflix, which had a great influence on the sequel The Last of Us.
It was planned that the game would have a multiplayer game mode, but in September 2019 it had to be abandoned in favor of focusing on creating a single-player campaign.
The game was originally scheduled to be released on February 21, but it was later postponed to May 29, 2020. In April 2020, the release of the game was postponed again indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the same month, the publisher confirmed the final release date of the game — June 19, 2020 .
On May 4, 2020, Neil Drakmann announced the completion of the development of the game and sending it to print.
