The swamp pine (lat. Pinus palustris) is a species of pine native to the southeastern United States. This type of pine is distinguished by its height (usually reaches 30 to 40 meters), as well as a beautiful umbrella-shaped crown and long needles. The bog pine is adapted to survive in wet swamps and lowlands, where the root system forms a dense layer capable of retaining water. This pine is of great importance in ecosystems, where it is the main species, providing food value for many animals, as well as being a source of timber.
