Socks - a kind of underwear, a short stocking that does not reach the knee. Paired fabric garment designed to be worn on a person’s feet. Some types of shoes are usually worn on top of socks. In ancient times, socks were made of leather or tangled animal hair. At the end of the 16th century, machine knitting socks appeared. From the beginning of the 19th century, machine knitting became the predominant method in the manufacture of socks.
