An alternative rock band with members from Northern Ireland and Scotland. Formed in Dundee, the band members currently live in Glasgow, Belfast and London, winners of the Ivor Novello Awards.
The band's first three albums, the EP Starfighter, the experimental studio album Songs for Polarbears, and When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up, were commercially unsuccessful and were released under the independent label Electric Honey (for their first album) and Jeepster (for the second and third). When the band moved to major label Polydor Records, they released Final Straw in 2003, an album that went four times platinum in the UK. It was the band's first success. The songs "Run," "Chasing Cars," and "Signal Fire" became hits.
