Sciformation ELN is a multidisciplinary Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), developed by Sciformation Consulting and The Max Planck Institute for Coal Research (MPI für Kohlenforschung), that combines feature-rich and flexible ELN with analytical data management, an in-house ordering system and a LIMS system.
The Sciformation ELN includes a lab notebook, database for analytical data, a LIMS workflow, chemical inventory, in-house ordering system and literature database. There are integrated web robots for substance data and literature. Analytical data can be annoted like on paper and there are viewers for graphs and 3D models. Chemistry features include automated calculation of amounts and integrated chemical inventory and data processing. Biology and biochemistry features include representation of well plates for organization of experiments. Forensic scientists can search for spectral patterns and exhibits can be stored. In physics and engineering research, the Sciformation ELN serves as a diary of steps performed and observations. Files or analytical data can be attached to experiments and client-specific validation criteria for experiments can be included.
Sciformation software was purchased by NIST in 2016.
