Sally Gunnell was born on July 29, 1966, in Essex, England. She is best known as a British former track and field athlete who competed between 1984 and 1997 and won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles. Gunnell attended West Hatch High School and later became a television presenter.
Her full name is Sally Jane Janet Gunnell. She is married to Jonathan Bigg, and they have three children - Finley, Luca, and Marley. The family resides in Steyning. Gunnell's father is Les Gunnell and her mother is Rosemary Gunnell.
Throughout her career, Gunnell received numerous awards including Women's European Athlete of the Year in 1993, Olympic Games Gold medal in 1992, and an Order of the British Empire. She also won gold medals in various competitions such as the Goodwill Games in 1994, IAAF World Cup in 1994, World Championships in 1993, European Championships in 1994, and European Indoor Championships in 1989, among others.
