Robert William Theodore Gunther (born August 23, 1869, in Surrey; died March 9, 1940, in Oxfordshire) was a historian of science, zoologist, and founder of the Museum of the History of Science, Oxford. Gunther was born in Surrey, United Kingdom, to father Albert Günther and mother Roberta Mitchell née McIntosh.
As an academic, Gunther was educated at University College London (UCL) and Magdalen College, Oxford. Gunther was a historian and zoologist, but he is most well-known for founding the Museum of the History of Science, which is located in Oxford.
Gunther's family includes his spouse, Amy, as well as four children: Eustace Neville-Rolfe, Emily Auber Frances, Eustace Rolfe Gunther, and Albert Everard Gunther. He also had at least one sibling, William M'Intosh.
