Richard Borcherds

Richard Borcherds (born November 29, 1959) is a mathematician from Cape Town, who holds citizenship in the United Kingdom. Borcherds was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and later at Trinity College, Cambridge and the University of Cambridge. His occupation is primarily within the field of mathematics.

Borcherds' doctoral advisor was John Horton Conway, and he has advised doctoral student Daniel Allcock. Richard Borcherds received the prestigious Fields Medal in 1998 for his work in mathematics.
