Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge is an English actress, writer, playwright, and director. Her TV credits include The Cafe, Glue and Broadchurch, along with Crashing and Fleabag, both of which she created, wrote and performed in. Her film credits include Albert Nobbs, The Iron Lady, Man Up, Goodbye Christopher Robin and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Born on July 14, 1985, in London, England, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the middle child of Theresa Mary (née Clerke) and Michael Cyprian Waller-Bridge. Her father, an entrepreneur, set up the electronic trading platform Tradepoint, while her mother is employed at the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers. She was raised in Ealing, London alongside her older sister, Isobel, and younger brother, Jasper. Phoebe received a classic education for the descendants of English aristocratic families. She grew up in West London, but after her parents divorced, she and her younger sister Isobel went to a private all-girls Catholic school.
Waller-Bridge attended St Augustine's Priory, a Catholic independent school for girls, and later the independent sixth form college DLD College London in Marylebone, London. According to the star, she always dreamed of a career as a comedian and loved to make her classmates laugh, but her innate shyness gave her a lot of anxiety. It was in order to get rid of shyness that Phoebe began to attend a theater school studio. After graduating from boarding school, she studied at West End College, and then became a student at the famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
In 2006, she obtained a B.A. degree in acting from RADA.
In 2007, she formed the theater company DryWrite with director and playwright Vicki Jones. They co-produced a series of five short plays called Alright. Purely. Fun at the Soho Theatre. These pieces served as inspiration for several characters in "Crashing". In 2009, the young actress first appeared on television in episodes of the TV series How Not to Live and Doctors.
In 2011, Phoebe joined the cast of the drama The Mysterious Albert Nobbs, joining such movie stars as Glenn Close, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Brendan Glisson. In the same year, the actress played a small role in the biographical drama about Margaret Thatcher "The Iron Lady", in which Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent shone, after which she played in the sitcom "Cafe".

Waller-Bridge voiced the droid L3-37 in the Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). She is currently the creation of an HBO show called "Running" with Jones. She is one of the writers for the upcoming 25th James Bond film, No Time to Die. In April 2019, it was announced that Waller-Bridge had been assigned as one of the writers for No Time to Die. In 2020, Phoebe won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical for her role as Mean. The series also won Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical).
In 2014, Phoebe first married the famous documentary filmmaker Conor Woodman. After four years of marriage, Phoebe and Conor decided to divorce, but still remained good friends.
Since 2018, Phoebe has been in a relationship with writer, playwright and director Martin McDonagh. Martin is an Oscar winner, three-time winner of BAFTA and many other prestigious film awards, known for the films "Low Down in Bruges", "Seven Psychopaths" and "Three Billboards on the Outskirts of Ebbing, Missouri". The chosen one of the actress is 15 years older than her.
