Biography
Has Sami roots. Anya came to alpine skiing, following the example of her older sister Frida. Her coach for many years was her father Anders. The debut in the World Cup took place on March 15, 1998 in the Swiss town of Crans-Montana in the giant slalom. By that time, she already had the title of world junior champion. The first victory in the World Cup was won by a 17-year-old athlete on December 3 of that year in the American Mammoth Mountain on the slalom track.
At the age of 19, the athlete won her first World Championship: in St. Anton, Austria, she excelled in slalom. In total, she has 7 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals of the world championships (according to the total number of awards of the world championships, she ranks second in the history of skiing, second only to the star of the 1930s German Kristl Krantz). Person is the only alpine skier in history to have world champion titles in all modern disciplines. At the 2007 World Championships in Swedish Ore, she won medals in 5 out of 6 disciplines (including the team championship), remaining without awards only in the giant slalom (descent in the second attempt), in which she won at the 2003 and 2005 World Championships.
At the Olympic Games, there was only one victory in the slalom in 2006 in Turin, but there are also silver and bronze in Salt Lake City and two bronze in Turin. In Turin, Anya was the flag bearer of the Swedish national team at the opening ceremony. In Vancouver 2010, Anya, despite a serious fall at the very finish of the downhill track, managed to win bronze in the super combined a few days later. Person became the third athlete in history to win at least 6 Olympic medals in alpine skiing during her career after Norwegian Hjetil Andre Omodt (8 awards) and Croatian Janica Kostelic.
In total, during her career, she went to the start of the World Cup stages more than 350 times and climbed the podium more than 90 times, winning 42 victories. She ranks sixth in the number of victories at the stages of the women's World Cup in history and the highest among all Scandinavian alpine skiers.
She lived in Monaco for 10 years, after which she returned to Sweden.
