Oskar Merikanto

Oskar Merikanto (1868-1924) was a Finnish organist, pianist, and composer known for his contributions to Finnish music. Born in Helsinki on August 5, 1868, Merikanto held Finnish citizenship. He studied at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where he further developed his musical skills.

Merikanto was successful in multiple areas of his musical career. In addition to being an organist, he was also a pianist and composer. His music played a part in enriching the Finnish music landscape.
