Story
The origin of the Order of the State goes back to the title of Hero of Socialist Labor - the highest rank in the USSR and the highest degree of distinction for labor.
On August 23, 1998, by decree of the President of Ukraine L. D. Kuchma, the distinction of the President of Ukraine "Hero of Ukraine" was established (with the award of the Order of the Golden Star or the Order of the State).
On March 16, 2000, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine "On the State Awards of Ukraine", which provided that the state award of Ukraine - the highest degree of distinction of Ukraine - is the title of Hero of Ukraine (with the award of the Order of the Golden Star or the Order of the State).
On December 2, 2002, a new presidential decree on the title was adopted.
Award Regulations
In 2002, a decree of the President of Ukraine on the title of Hero of Ukraine was adopted, which established the statute of the award, a description of orders, and miniatures.
- The title of Hero of Ukraine is awarded to citizens of Ukraine for an outstanding heroic deed or outstanding labor achievements.
- The title of Hero of Ukraine is awarded by decree of the President of Ukraine.
- The Hero of Ukraine is awarded the Order of the Golden Star for an outstanding heroic deed or the Order of the State for outstanding labor achievements.
- The Hero of Ukraine, awarded the Order of the Golden Star, in case of outstanding labor achievements, may be awarded the Order of the State, and the Hero of Ukraine, awarded the Order of the State, in case of a heroic deed, may be awarded the Order of the Golden Star.
- The assignment of the title Hero of Ukraine for the second time with the presentation of the same order is not performed.
- The title of Hero of Ukraine may be awarded posthumously.
- The title of Hero of Ukraine is not awarded for merits that took place in the past and are not related to the formation and development of independent Ukraine.
Description
The sign is made of gold and has the shape of the sign of the princely state of Vladimir the Great - a trident framed by two oak branches. Relief images. The sign is 35 mm long and 36 mm wide. The reverse side of the order is flat, with an inscription in embossed letters "Hero of Ukraine" and the serial number of the order. At the top of the middle tip of the trident, there is a ring with an eye, which is connected to a curly block covered with a ribbon. The length of the block is 45 mm, the width is 28 mm. On the reverse side of the block, there is a fastener for attaching the order to clothes. The ribbon of the order is silk moire with blue and yellow stripes. Tape width - 28 mm, the width of each strip - 14 mm.
Wearing order
Orders of the "Gold Star" and the State are worn on the left side of the chest and are placed above other state awards.
For the orders of the "Gold Star" and the State title "Hero of Ukraine" a miniature is provided, which is worn on the left side of the chest instead of the corresponding order above the miniatures and straps of other state awards of Ukraine. The miniature of the orders is single, made of gold, and has the shape of a pentagonal star with smooth dihedral rays on the front side; in the center of the star, there is a relief image of a trident.
The Statute of the distinction of the President of Ukraine "Hero of Ukraine" (until 2002) also provided for the possibility of wearing an order bar, which was placed above the miniatures and bars of other distinctions of the President of Ukraine. The bar was a rectangular metal plate covered with a ribbon. On the bar is a gilded image of the order. The bar was 12 mm high and 28 mm wide. Miniature of the order - a copy of the order in a reduced form.
