National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic" was founded in 1899 as Ekaterinoslav Higher Mining School, since 1911 Ekaterinoslav Mining Institute, since 1926 Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute, on the basis of which, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 13.08.1993 № 646 "On Improving the Network of Higher Education Institutions", the State
Mining Academy of Ukraine was established.
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 11.06.1997 № 522/97 "On granting the State Mining Academy of Ukraine the status of national", the academy was granted the status of national and renamed the National Mining Academy of Ukraine.
In accordance with the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 28.02.2002 № 86-r "On the reorganization of the National Mining Academy" the academy was reorganized into the National Mining University.
State Higher Educational Institution "National Mining University" in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 20.12.2017 № 1636 and Science of Ukraine was renamed the National Technical University "Dnieper Polytechnic", which is the successor of property, labor and non-property rights and responsibilities of the State Higher Educational Institution "National Mining University".
