Naomi Shemer (13 July 1930 – 26 June 2004) was an Israeli songwriter, singer, and poet. She was born in Israel and held Israeli nationality. She is best known for her notable work "Jerusalem of Gold".
Shemer was educated at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Throughout her career, she focused on the music of Israel and folk music genres. She was the mother of Ariel Horowitz, her child.
Naomi Shemer passed away at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center on 26 June 2004.
