Michael Hedges (1953-1997) was an American musician, composer, and singer-songwriter known for his contributions to new-age music, world music, and new acoustic music. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, Hedges displayed a talent for playing various instruments such as guitar, piano, and flute throughout his life.
Hedges was educated at Enid High School, Phillips University, and the prestigious Peabody Institute. His various occupations included being a guitarist, songwriter, composer, and singer-songwriter.
During his career, Michael Hedges received the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album. Sadly, his life was cut short in 1997 when he passed away in Mendocino County, California. Hedges' musical legacy continues to be appreciated and celebrated by fans and fellow musicians alike.
