Meghnad Saha (6 October 1893 – 16 February 1956) was a physicist and astronomer born in what is now Bangladesh. He is best known for his work in the field of astrophysics and particularly for the development of the Saha equation, which is used for the ionization of elements in stars. Saha was educated at the University of Calcutta and held dual citizenship in India and the British Raj. He passed away in Delhi on 16 February 1956.
