Manfred Eigen

Manfred Eigen was a German chemist, physicist, and writer born on May 9, 1927, in Bochum, Germany. He held German citizenship and was educated at the University of Göttingen. Eigen passed away on February 6, 2019, in Göttingen.

He was best known for his work in the fields of chemistry and physics. During his career, Eigen was a doctoral student under the supervision of Arnold Eucken and later served as the doctoral advisor to Petra Schwille.

Manfred Eigen received the 1967 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research. Throughout his life, he worked and resided in Germany.
