Funding Round attributes
Molg, a Sterling, Virginia-based startup, raised $5.5 million in seed funding to scale its operations in tackling electronics waste through circular manufacturing. This funding round was led by Closed Loop Partners’ Ventures Group, with support from Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, ABB Robotics & Automation Ventures, Overture, Elemental Impact, and Techstars.
Molg specializes in autonomous robotic microfactories that disassemble complex electronics like laptops and servers, recovering valuable components for reuse, remanufacturing, or recycling. This technology is aimed at keeping materials in the supply chain and reducing landfill waste.
The funding will enable Molg to expand its production capacity to meet the growing demand for circularity in electronics. Molg has already partnered with Sims Lifecycle Services and several leading IT asset disposition (ITAD) facilities, including working with major electronics manufacturers like HP, Dell, and ABB to redesign products for circular use. The company is focused on ensuring that one product's lifecycle can seamlessly transition into the next, reducing overall electronic waste.
