Lynn Margulis

Lynn Margulis (born Lynn Alexander Margulis on March 5, 1938) was an American microbiologist known for her work on endosymbiotic theory. She was born in Chicago and held citizenship in the United States . Margulis passed away on November 22, 2011, in Amherst, Massachusetts .

Margulis received her education from multiple institutions, including the University of Wisconsin–Madison , the University of California, Berkeley , the University of Chicago , the University of Massachusetts Amherst , and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools . She had a child named Dorion Sagan .
