Howar Holmefjur Lorentsen is a Norwegian speed skater, 2018 Olympic champion in the 500 meters and Olympic silver medalist in the 1000 meters, 2018 World champion in the sprint all—around, silver medalist at the 2019 World Championships in the 500 m. He is the Norwegian champion in 2012 at a distance of 1000 meters.

Biography

He started skating at the age of 8 in his native Bergen. He took part in three junior world championships. In 2010, in Moscow, he became the champion in the team pursuit. Two years later, Obihiro repeated this success in Japan, and also began to win the 1000 meters distance. In addition, the athlete won one silver and two bronze medals at the junior world championships.

In January 2012, the Norwegian participated in the World Championships in the sprint all-around and took 29th place in the general classification. Two months later, at the World Championships at individual distances in Heerenveen, the skater showed the 24th time at a distance of 1500 meters.

He took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, taking 11th place in the 1000 meters and 16th in the 1500 meters.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, he won the 500 meters, repeating his personal best set in 2017 at the alpine skating rink in Salt Lake City.
