Lightner Witmer

Lightner Witmer (born June 28, 1867, in Philadelphia) was an American psychologist, known for founding the field of clinical psychology. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and dedicated his career to the field of psychology.

Witmer's occupation as a psychologist contributed significantly to his establishment of clinical psychology as a distinct field. He held US citizenship. After a long and successful career in psychology, Witmer passed away on July 19, 1956, in Philadelphia. As an individual, Witmer is considered an instance of a person.
