Artsimovich was best known for his notable work in the development of the Tokamak , a type of magnetic confinement device used in plasma physics and nuclear fusion research.
During his career, Artsimovich received the prestigious Lenin Prize for his contributions to science . One of his doctoral students was Igor Irodov , who went on to become a renowned physicist in his own right.
