Le Corbusier was a Swiss-French architect, writer, urban planner, and photographer born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland on October 6, 1887. He held citizenship in both Switzerland and France. Le Corbusier was the founder of the Congrès Internationaux d'Architecture Moderne and was known for his notable works in architecture such as Villa Savoye, Unité d'habitation, Notre Dame du Haut, and Ville Radieuse. He passed away on August 27, 1965, in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

Le Corbusier's other architectural works include Villa La Roche, Tsentrosoyuz building, Villa Jeanneret-Perret, Immeuble Clarté, Palace of the Soviets, Maisons Jaoul, Sanskar Kendra, Villa Sarabhai, Villa Shodhan, Palace of Justice, Secretariat Building (Chandigarh), Governor's Palace (Chandigarh), and Palace of Assembly (Chandigarh).

In addition to his architectural achievements, Le Corbusier was also an author and wrote several books, including After Cubism, Vers une architecture, Urbanisme, La Peinture moderne, L'Art décoratif d'aujourd'hui, Précisions sur un état présent de l'architecture et de l'urbanisme, Aircraft, Premier clavier de couleurs, Le Modulor, Charte d'Athènes, Le Poeme de l'Angle Droit, and La Ville radieuse.

Le Corbusier was the child of Marie Charlotte Amelie Jeanneret-Perret and Georges Edouard Jeanneret-Gris. As a creator, Le Corbusier also designed the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh.
