Lactose (Latin lactis - milk) Or milk sugar, a carbohydrate from the group of disaccharides. Contained in milk and dairy products (Yogurt, hard soft cheese, kefir, fermented milk,). The lactose molecule consists of small residues of glucose and galactose.

Lactose is needed in order to absorb calcium and other useful trace elements in the intestines. Lactose is found only in the milk of mammals. Some people from birth have lactose intolerance which is found in premature babies or due to hereditary from parents, or is manifested later mostly after 3 years resulting in diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence and nausea.Therefore, some people take lactose-free milk. It is a regular milk in which lactose is divided into glucose and galactose
