Henry Dunant

Henry Dunant was born on May 8, 1828, in Geneva, Switzerland , and held Swiss citizenship . He was educated at Collège Calvin and had various occupations throughout his life, such as a writer, merchant, businessman, and organizational founder .

Dunant is best known for founding the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the International Committee of the Red Cross . In 1862, he published a notable work called "A Memory of Solferino" , which contributed to the establishment of the Red Cross Movement.

For his efforts in the formation of these humanitarian organizations, Dunant was awarded the 1901 Nobel Peace Prize . He spent his later years in Switzerland and passed away on October 30, 1910, in Heiden, Switzerland .
