Gilles de Roberval

Gilles de Roberval (9 August 1602 - 27 October 1675) was a French mathematician, physicist, philosopher, and professor, best known for his contributions to the theory of curves, mechanics, and kinematics . He was born in Villeneuve-sur-Verberie, France, and later became a citizen of France .

Roberval received his education at the Collège de France, where he later served as a professor . He continued to contribute to the field of mathematics and physics throughout his life, making advancements in the understanding of curves and motion . Marin Mersenne, a French polymath, was his doctoral advisor . Roberval passed away in Paris, France, on October 27, 1675 .
