Gerhard Frey (born June 1, 1944) is a German mathematician who has made numerous contributions to the field of mathematics. He was born in Erlangen, Germany, and currently holds German citizenship. Frey pursued his education at the University of Tübingen and Heidelberg University.
Throughout his career as a mathematician, Frey has been involved in the education and mentoring of several doctoral students. Some of his noteworthy students include Anne-Monika Spallek and Helmar Frank. Furthermore, Frey's own doctoral advisor was Peter Roquette, a respected mathematician in his own right.
