George Monbiot

George Monbiot grew up in South Oxfordshire, in a large country house. His father, Raymond Jeffrey Manber, was a businessman who headed the Conservative Party Forum on Trade and Industry, and his mother Rosalia was the head of the South Oxfordshire District Municipal Council for ten years.

Monbiot was educated at a private school in Buckinghamshire and won an open scholarship to Brasenose College, Oxford.
