Emmanuel Chiva works at the Ministère de la Défense as director of the French Defense Innovation Agency. He works in the artificial intelligence and military simulation fields. He studied at École Normale Supérieure and holds a PhD in biomathematics with specialization in artificial intelligence and in the field of complex systems and bio-camouflage. Hearer at the 49th national session “Armaments & Economy of Defence,” Chiva is also a French Navy reserve officer. From 2014 to 2018, he was the deputy general director of Agueris, responsible for strategy and development of that company, specialized in weapon systems’ operational simulation and training. He also worked as deputy CEO and chief strategy officer of AGUERIS. From 2013 to 2018, Emmanuel Chiva served as R&T commission chairman of GICAT. In 2006, he became Reserve Navy Captain of Marine Nationale.
In 2018, Emmanuel Chiva was appointed director of the French Defence Innovation Agency, and member of the executive committee of the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA). He specializes in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), complex systems and biomimetism and has authored about twenty five papers on AI and innovation. He created and managed the military simulation business of MASA Group, a company specializing in behavior modelling and AI. In addition, between 2014 and 2019, he was chairman of the research, technology and innovation committee for the French Land Defense & Security Industry Association. Emmanuel is a graduate of the French École Normale Supérieure and holds a PhD in Biomathematics and Artificial Intelligence.
