Edward B. Lewis

Edward B. Lewis , also known as Edward Lewis , was born on May 20, 1918 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania . Lewis was a geneticist by occupation and held citizenship in the United States . He was educated at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) . His doctoral advisor was Alfred Sturtevant , and one of his doctoral students was Mark M. Davis .

Lewis passed away on July 21, 2004, in Pasadena, California . Throughout his career, he received numerous awards, including the 1995 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine .
