Donald O'Riley Quarrie is a Jamaican former track and field athlete, born on February 25, 1951, in Kingston, Jamaica. He is known for being one of the world's top sprinters during the 1970s. Quarrie studied at the University of Southern California and holds Jamaican nationality.
Throughout his career, Don Quarrie received numerous medals for his performance in various athletic competitions. He won gold and silver medals at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, placing first in the 200-meter race and second in the 100-meter event. At the 1980 Moscow Olympics, Quarrie took home the bronze medal for the 200-meter race. In the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, he earned a silver medal as a part of the 4x100 meter relay team.
Quarrie also had success in the Commonwealth Games. He won gold medals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events in 1970 Edinburgh, 1971 Cali, and 1974 Christchurch. Additionally, Quarrie was a part of the gold-winning 4x100 meter relay team at the 1971 Cali Games.
