Dimitrie Pompeiu

Dimitrie Pompeiu, a Romanian mathematician and politician, was born on October 4, 1873 in Broscăuți, Romania. He held Romanian nationality and was educated at both the University of Bucharest and the University of Paris. As a mathematician, Pompeiu's work includes notable contributions such as the Pompeiu problem, Pompeiu's theorem, and the Pompeiu derivative.

In addition to his occupation as a mathematician, Dimitrie Pompeiu also worked as a politician. He was a doctoral student under the guidance of Henri Poincaré and later became a mentor to Grigore Moisil. Dimitrie Pompeiu passed away on October 8, 1954, in Bucharest, Romania.
