David Cronenberg

David Cronenberg, officially known as David Paul Cronenberg, is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, and actor. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Toronto, Canada. Cronenberg studied at the University of Toronto. He is also known by the pseudonym The Baron of Blood and the nickname King of Venereal Horror.

David Cronenberg has directed multiple films, such as Cosmopolis, Crimes of the Future, Shivers, The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly, and From the Drain. He is best known for his work in the body horror film genre, exploring themes through sci-fi horror films like Shivers (1975), Scanners (1981), Videodrome (1983), and The Fly (1986).

Throughout his career, Cronenberg has received awards from various film festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, and Légion d'honneur. He has also been a member of the board of directors for films like Videodrome and Eastern Promises.

Apart from directing, David Cronenberg has appeared in notable acting roles in films such as Into the Night, Nightbreed, Trial by Jury, and Barney's Version. As an author, he has written screenplays for films like Existenz and Scanners. David Cronenberg is also the father of filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg.
