Boowa is a blue dog who is one of the main characters in the Boowa and Kwala universe. He is best friends with Kwala, a yellow koala, and they live together with their families on an island called "The Land In The Middle". Boowa is intelligent and loves collecting seashells. He is voiced by Jason Barnard, who is also the creator of the series. Boowa's birthday is on June 5th, and he has a seashell collection in his bedroom. He is the older brother of Siwa and the son of Mawa and Dawa.
Boowa and Kwala were created by Véronique Barnard and Jason Barnard in 1998, and the first story was "Around the World in 12 Songs with Boowa & Kwala".
