Arkhyz is a village in the Zelenchuksky district of Karachay-Cherkessia. The administrative center of the Arkhyz rural settlement. It is located in the Big Zelenchuk river basin.
In the Arkhyz region there are several peaks popular with climbers. Ascents to these peaks are classified by the second or third categories of difficulty.
This mountainous region is located in the Western Caucasus between the spurs of the Main Range. From the north and northwest, it is limited by the long ridge of Abishira-Akhuba (a spur of the Side Range), which separates it from the basin of the Chilik, Urup and Kyafar rivers. From the east rises the Uzhum ridge, which is the watershed between the Marukh and Kizgych rivers.
Arkhyz is the pearl of Karachay-Cherkessia. The village has long been loved by climbers, and recently the mountainous region has been discovered by skiers, for whom they began to equip a modern resort. In Arkhyz, tourists are waiting for picturesque mountains, routes for hiking and horseback riding of varying complexity, many lakes and waterfalls, panoramic platforms, ancient monuments and Byzantine temples.

The Arkhyz ski resort in 2021-2022 offers a lot of options on how to celebrate the New Year. Holiday shows with competitions and gifts are held on the snow slope and in hotels. Tourists are taught skiing and horse riding: there is a school of instructors with a children's ski town. In winter, the resort has an open-air ice skating rink. And the guides conduct interesting excursions to the sights: the confluence of the mountain rivers Kizgych and Psysh, the Sophia and Cossack waterfalls, the Alan settlement, and the observatory.
