Adam Olearius (born August 16, 1603, in Aschersleben ; died February 22, 1671, at Gottorf Castle ) was a German diplomat, historian, writer, mathematician, librarian, geographer, and explorer . He was educated at Leipzig University . Olearius was a citizen of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Halberstadt and the Duchy of Schleswig .
