JORDANA BREWSTER

She is an American film actress.

She was born April 26, 1980 in Panama City, Panama, the son of banker Elden Brewster and a professional model, Brazilian Maria Joao.

After her birth, the girl and her family lived in London for six years, until she moved to her mother's Brazilian hometown of Rio de Janeiro. In the carnival capital Jordana learned to speak fluent Portuguese, and here she first attracted the attention of Brazilian spectators, performing the role of a dancer in a popular children's show.

When the girl was 10 years old, the family moved to Manhattan. In New York, Jordana Brewster studied at the Catholic School for Girls and the professional children's school "Professional Children's School". She then attended Convent of the Sacred Heart and successfully graduated from the Professional Children's School in New York City.

During training Jordana Brewster has performed in several school productions, even performing in one of them, the role of Jesus Christ. She soon landed the role of Nikki Munsen on the television series "As the World Turns," which was a springboard for many young actresses. "While the World Turns" was the most popular daytime series in America from 1958 to 2009. Incidentally, after the final episode of "Guiding Light" was aired on September 18, 2009, "While the World Turns" became the longest-running television series still airing.

The actress herself later commented on his work on the show: "When I signed a contract to participate in the series" Spinning World "I promised my mother that it will not spoil me, and my father that I go to college. The acting profession kept me out of trouble. I had to come to the CBS studio at 7 a.m., so I didn't have time to do anything stupid."

Still, Jordana Brewster's film career began with a part in the television series All My Children, where she appeared once as Anita Santos. As time passed, and serious film proposals, unfortunately, did not come. In 1996, Jordana still had the opportunity to sit down in the sci-fi action movie "Independence Day", but a contract with CBS did not allow to do so. After some time, young Jordana Brewster noticed director Robert Rodriguez. He then took her on the role of Delilah Proffitt, head cheerleader and editor in chief of the school newspaper, in his fantastic film for teenagers "Faculty" in 1998. The sharp-eyed film played its good work, in its story Harrington College had long lost its pristine nature, its shabby hallways filled daily with America's future - loners and leaders, dudes and junkies, smart guys and morons, and they were the ones who made the terrifying discovery one day: their professors were from another planet!

As part of the promotional support for the film, Jordana Brewster also appeared in an MTV special called "Invasion of the Scary Movie", and the famous clothing firm Tommy Hilfiger used the cast of the film: Robert Patrick, Sean Hatosy, Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett to promote their products. Shortly after The Faculty was released, Jordana Brewster was offered the role of "Sarah Weinstock" in the 1999 miniseries The Sixties. Entering Yale University, an aspiring actress found time to shoot in the film adaptation of the book "The Invisible Circus" in 2001, where her partners were the famous Cameron Diaz and Christopher Eccleston.

Then Jordana Brewster has played several roles in movies, of which, of course, one of the most famous and significant - the role of Mia Toretto, a beautiful waitress and sister of the leader of the gang of racers in the adventure film directed by Rob Cohen's "Fast and the Furious" in 2001, with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in the lead roles. Now it is safe to say that this role has helped her gain a place in the circle of young promising actresses in Hollywood.

Jordana Brewster in 2001, decided to seriously engage in training, leaving at the time of filming. Three years after leaving the screen, she returned to film as the charming Lucy Diamond in the 2004 adventure film "Spy Girl." After that, she was literally bombarded with offers for major female roles. In the drama directed by Rick Rosenthal, "Next to Grace" in 2005, the actress was a tandem of Gregory Smith and Ashley Johnson. Jordana Brewster - a bright, eccentric, cheeky and charming actress, to whom His Majesty Cinematography drew attention a little late, but immediately charged in the ranks of the most photographed actress.

...

On May 6, 2007, Jordana married film producer Andrew Form.

RICHARD BROOKS

American director, actor, screenwriter, writer, and producer.

His real name is Ruben Sax.

He was born May 18, 1912 in Philadelphia in a family of Jewish immigrants from Russia.

Graduated from Temple University.

He worked as a sports columnist, was an announcer and commentator on TV, and wrote scripts for radio.

Brooks began working in cinema in 1942 as a screenwriter (White Slavery). His scripts were used for such famous films as Key Largo (1948), Crossfire (1947) and Brute Force (1947), which were characterized by their topicality, sociality and sharp plot.

These qualities also distinguish Brooks's novels, which he began writing in the 1940s after returning from the war (he served as a submariner in the navy).

Brooks' interest in acute social problems and politics was clearly manifested in his directorial works: Crisis (1950), The U.S. Press Crime Story (1952), The Last Hunt (1956), Something of Value (1957) about colonialism destroying the national values of African peoples. These films had little resonance.

The topic of juvenile delinquency was dealt with in Brooks's School Jungle (1954). Brooks as a director was talked about after this film, groundbreaking in its theme of exposing unsightly morals in American schools.

Interesting was also a western "The Last Hunt" (1957) with Robert Taylor. Slightly less successful was "Something of Value" (1957), in which Brooks paid tribute to the denunciation of colonialism.

Then came a long period of fascination with screen adaptations. But neither The Brothers Karamazov (1958) nor Lord Jim (1965) based on Joseph Conrad, despite the participation of such stars as Yul Brynner and Peter O'Toole, brought Brooks acclaim, for these adaptations suffered from simplification and style-heaviness.

Of the two screen adaptations of Tennessee Williams, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) and The Sweet-voiced Bird of Youth ((1962) only the former was partly due to the compelling acting of Burl Ives and Elizabeth Taylor.

In 1960 Brooks directed his best film, Elmer Gantry, based on the novel by Sinclair Lewis, which won three Oscars, including Burt Lancaster for his role as a traveling preacher and Brooks for his elegant script.

In later years Brooks successfully debunked the mythology of the Western in The Professionals (1966), the heist film in Dollars (1971) and the adventure film in Suck a Bullet (1975).

Brooks' films, "In Cold Blood" (1967) based on Truman Capote and "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" (1977) based on Judith Rossner, received high critical acclaim. The story of the murder of a family in Kansas is presented in a semi-documentary manner, and the confession of a sexually frustrated woman in a lyrical-exalted manner, not generally characteristic of the director.

Brooks' last films, in which he paid tribute to international terrorism, The Wrong One (1980), and to the world of gamblers, Bookmaker's Fever (1985), testify to the fading talent for storytelling for which he was always famous.

Brooks' work in his best films belongs to the golden fund of Hollywood and is distinguished by elaborate scripted moves, precise psychological drawing of roles and humanism.

He passed away on March 11, 1992, in Beverly Hills.

LOUISE BROOKS

...

She was born on November 14, 1906.

American silent film actress.

She became popular in the United States with her first major role in American Venus (1925), which made her a sex symbol. And in 1928 her participation in the film by Howard Hawks "A Girl in Every Port" brought her popularity in Europe. At this time, the German director Georg Pabst has about two years looking for an actress for the role of Lulu, the heroine of a popular play by Franz Vedekinda "Pandora's Box. The film, however, was not well received at the time and failed miserably.

The rapid development of sound cinema was immediately reflected in her work. Cut off from Hollywood, speaking neither French nor German, she was not in demand in the new cinema.

In 1931 Brooks was forced to return to the United States, but the 23-year-old star, being in the prime of creative force, ceased to be invited for major roles. In 1936 she returned to the screen, but starred in the occasional role. And after the western "Stagecoach Robbers," Louise Brooks out of the cinema forever.

Living in poverty and almost complete isolation, she was doomed to complete oblivion. But in 1955, director of the French "Cinemateca" Henri Langlois at the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of cinema, made a surprising announcement: "There is no Garbo. There is no Dietrich. There is only Louise Brooks! This was the beginning of a revaluation of the actress.

Louise Brooks died of a heart attack in 1985 at the age of seventy-eight years. In the last years of her life, the actress was engaged in film criticism. Three years before her death she released a book of memoirs, Lulu in Hollywood.

PIERCE BROSNAN

He was born on May 16, 1953, in a small Irish town.

His father, a weaver, abandoned the family when his son was a baby. Pierce did not even know his father's name and met him when he was already a celebrity, when he was over thirty. Nevertheless, his youngest son Brosnan named after his frivolous grandfather.

When Brosnan was very young, his mother left him to his parents and went to London to work as a nurse. She was able to see the baby only a couple of times a year. After his grandparents died, Pierce was in the care of an aunt and uncle, who sent the boy to school of the Brethren - to this day Brosnan refers to religion with a shudder. Brosnan was reunited with his mother only when he was eleven years old - they moved to the suburbs of London, where he began studying at a local school.

At fifteen, after dropping out of school, Brosnan began his artistic journey - first in the circus fire swallower, after - painter-illustrator, and then an actor in the experimental theater "Oval House".

In 1973 Brosnan joined the London Drama Center, where he studied for 3 years. In parallel Brosnan played on the stages of London theaters, where in 1978 he met his love in the face of actress Cassandra Harris. The wedding took place on December 27, 1980.

He made his debut on the professional stage in 1976. Pierce has played all the classic roles - from Shakespeare to Tennessee Williams. From the latter for the brilliant performance of one of the roles Brosnan even received a telegram of thanks, which still hangs in his home in a precious frame.

In 1981, Brosnan landed a role in the American TV series "The Manions of America", which has gained popularity. Brosnan moves with his family to the United States. His fame increased after the NBC detective series "Remington Steele".

Unfortunately, around the same time Brosnan's wife was diagnosed with cancer... She struggled to survive for several years and died in her husband's arms in December 1991...

Trying to get over the pain of this loss, Brosnan went headlong into his work.

In 1992 he starred in the cult "Lawnmower", in 1993 - in "Mrs. Doubtfire" with Robin Williams, as well as in several little-known TV movie.

It was then that he was offered the role of James Bond and since then his life has merged with the fate of the most famous movie character. Bond is not just a character in a movie series, it is the philosophy and lifestyle of an entire generation. Bond jokes, Bond tastes, Bond parodies were a kind of password for strong, ironic men who know the taste and meaning of this life. Now it's hard to imagine another 007 agent - without those squinted steel eyes, handsome smile and understated Brosnan passion. The success of Bond-Brosnan surpassed all expectations. He became much more popular than Connery - the picture "Golden Eye" (1995), "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "License to Kill" had a truly fantastic box office success.

However, despite the popularity that brought Brosnan this role, the actor is not going to dwell on this image, continuing to appear in various films. Brosnan was invited to the most successful paintings and blockbusters. In the career of Pierce fantastic number of characters of the romantic and adventurous tone.

Pierce Brosnan was named America's most handsome man twice in a row and was nominated for the Golden Globe. By organizing his own film company, as a producer Brosnan released several paintings.

...

Personal life Pierce also began to improve - in August 2001 he married journalist Kelly Shay Smith, with whom he met in 1994. In January 1997 they had a son.

JIM BROADBENT

He was born on May 24, 1949, in Lincoln (Lincolnshire), England.

His father, a furniture maker, and his mother, a sculptor, were amateur actors and acted in a small theater.

After receiving an elementary education at a boarding school in Reading, Jim went to art school, but soon transferred from there to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

After graduating from the Academy in 1972, worked in a modest position as an assistant director in the open air theater in Regent's Park.

He began with roles in provincial theaters, until in the second half of the seventies, founded with his friend, actor Patrick Barlow, a two-man company, the National Theater of Brent. Their repertoire included small comic plays, in which Broadbent played a variety of roles - from John the Baptist to Marie Antoinette.

He first managed to attract the attention of a wide audience in 1976, having played several roles in a cycle of plays based on the science fiction novel by Robert Shea, "The Illuminati!", directed by the famous British actor, director and writer Ken Campbell.

Broadbent went on to work at the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

He first appeared on the movie screen in 1978 in a cameo role in The Howl. For quite a long time acted in small roles. In addition, he worked on television, in a popular comedy series "Blackadder" with the famous comedian Rowan Atkinson.

In 1987, Broadbent married a working costume designer.

The turning point in his career came in 1990, thanks to director Mike Leigh, with whom Broadbent had already worked in the theater. In his comedy "Life is Beautiful!" Broadbent played his first major film role.

The most impressive acting work of this period was the role of the wily Buckingham in an original interpretation of Shakespeare's "Richard III" (1996) directed by Richard Loncraine.

The next big achievement for the actor was again due to Mike Leigh - for his role in his musical-historical film "The Clutter" (1999), Broadbent was nominated for the British Academy of Film and Television and was named best actor at the Venice Film Festival in 1999, receiving the "Volpi Cup.

Soon he was waiting for another triumph in the psychological drama "Iris" (2001). This role can be considered the most successful in Broadbent′s acting biography. This time his talent has been recognized across the ocean - for this film, he was awarded the "Oscar" and "Golden Globe" as best supporting actor.

Broadbent is still lucky - his talent as a performer of character roles is in demand, he is often filmed both at home and in the United States.

The actor, along with his wife, Anastasia Lewis, lives in North London.

The amateur acting troupe, the Lindsey Rural Actors of Lincolnshire, in which his parents once played, still exists to this day, Broadbent is its honorary president.

LLOYD BRIDGES

Lloyd Vernett Bridges, Jr. was born January 15, 1913 in San Leandro, California, USA.

Lloyd Bridges began at the Actor's Lab in the mid-1930s, then appeared on Broadway, where he made his debut in Othello in 1939. Signed a contract with Columbia Pictures, he played many cameo roles in the 1940s, including Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941) and then in the TV series Secret Agent X-9 (1945).

For five more years he played supporting roles, such as the younger brother in "Canyon Passage" (1946), the young outlaw in "Colt.45" (1950). Occasionally played leading roles in supporting films, such as the role of the pilot in "Spaceship X-M" (1950), before his acclaimed role as a spineless deputy sheriff in "Exactly at Noon" (1952) put him out of fashion. He starred in Westerns, playing the role of Gar in "City of Wicked" (1953) and a certain Gip in "Wichita" (1955).

In the 1950s, Bridges was put on the "gray list" because he confessed to flirting with Communism at a meeting of the Un-American Activities Investigation Committee. Producer Ivan Thors brought him back to the screen as diver-for-hire Mike Nelson in the television series Sea Hunt (1958-1961), Sea Hunt).

In the 1960s and 1970s Bridges played in TV movies, his best work being "Silent Night, Lonely Night" (1969), the strange and memorable "The Trouble of the Overly Rich" (1972) and the role of Aramis in "The Fifth Musketeer" (1979). His career changed dramatically after the release of "Airplane!" (1980), in which he spoofed roles he had played before. Following the film's success, Bridges' other major work was "Important People!" (1991), also a comedy. He is the father of actors Bo Bridges and Jeff Bridges, and the grandfather of Jordan Bridges.

He died on March 10, 1998, in Los Angeles, California, USA.
