William Gell (April 1, 1777 - February 4, 1836) was a British anthropologist, illustrator, and explorer, best known for his work on ancient Greece and Italy. Born in Derbyshire, England, Gell studied at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
Throughout his career, Gell contributed as an anthropologist and an illustrator. He held citizenship in both the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Kingdom of Great Britain. Eventually, Gell passed away in Naples, Italy.
