The Structure of Scientific Publications

The Structure of Scientific Publications

Nearly all journal articles are divided into the following major sections: abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references. Usually the sections are labeled as such, although often the introduction (and sometimes the abstract) is not labeled. Sometimes alternative section titles are used.

Since scientific article is a qualifying labor, researchers need to have a readable and correctly composed structure so that everything is clear. In other words, the structure should be laid out in series in order for the reader understands it without the involvement of the author. The structure composed by the rules helps the author and the reader to find the desired section without problems. Therefore, it is important to know the structure of writing scientific papers.

The parts of an article can be written in the following order: title sheet; abstract; introduction; main part; conclusion; list of references .

Consider the features of the constituent elements of scientific articles and the basic requirements that must be followed when working on them.

Title sheet should be as short precise, meaningful and informative as possible, and correspond to its main content. The maximum title length is 10-12 words. Try to write a title that will impress and grab the reader's attention to explore it carefully in the scientific style. It should clearly reflect the research topic so that the reader is not confused. Underlining the essence of the article with keywords is an advantage.

Abstract is a brief summary of the research. This part is located after the title of the article, but it is written after the completion of the work on the main text of the article. It includes descriptions of the main topic, problem, object, purpose, method and its results. The recommended length is 100 - 250 words. Due to abstract, the reader can find out the main content and the importance of the paper, then decide whether the work is interesting or not to read it in full. It should not contain material that is missing from the main content. Also, avoid complex grammatical constructions.

The introduction is a short summary of the entire work. This part is necessary to provide introductory information and explain the purpose of the research. In addition, the author can reveal the theoretical and practical part of the work by describing it available to the reader. Then, the author indicates relevance, that is, the degree of its importance at present and problem that have not been solved in previous scientific works.

The article should contain a certain idea, a key thought that needs to be revealed.

The main part consists of several chapters, which are divided into paragraphs. This part describes the sequence of research steps and justifies the methods used. The author should provide reliable and reasoned results. The meaning of the information is so that another scientist can understand the work based on the methods given. The research results should be described clearly so that the reader can understand all the stages and evaluate conclusions. This part takes up a large amount in scientific articles. The results are confirmed by tables, graphs, figures. Moreover, the results should be summarized.

The conclusion contains a brief formulation of the research results in a concise form and repeats the main ideas of the main part of the publication. The repetition of the material should be from new phrases different from the main part. It also identifies the basic directions for further research in this area. In addition, the author should try to include a prediction of the development of the problems considered.

The list of references includes publications that have been used in scientific work. This list is one of the essential parts of the paper and reflects the independent creative work of the author.
