Stepan Stepanovich Oleksenko (1941-2006) - Soviet, Ukrainian theater and film actor. People's Artist of the USSR (1991).
Stepan Oleksenko was born on October 22, 1941 in the village of Mikhailovka (now a city in the Volgograd Region, Russia). By his own admission: “In my opinion, I was born an actor, in any case, since childhood, my family has called me that - I always came up with something, changed clothes, played my loved ones”.

While studying at the theater institute, he starred in G. Kozintsev's film Hamlet. According to the actor: “It was happiness not only to act in Hamlet, but also to represent this work abroad. Thanks to my Laertes, I went to Italy - to the premiere of the film in Milan.
In 1964 he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Theatrical Art. I. K. Karpenko-Kary (now the Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Kary) (course of L. A. Oleinik).
Since 1964 - actor of the Kiev Ukrainian Drama Theater. I. Franko, where he worked until the end of his life. By his own admission: “Meanwhile, in the early 60s, this institution was in a terrible state, vegetated - no spectators, no good directing ...”, however, his arrival coincided with changes in the theater: “A wonderful director Dmitry Alexandrovich Aleksidze just came to the Franks . Marina and I entered the theater in 1964, and in 1965 he staged Sophocles' Antigone, a landmark performance that thundered throughout the Union. Then there was "Uriel Acosta", "Don Cesar de Bazan" - I got such grandiose roles!
According to journalist Dmitry Gordon, “In the days of Brezhnev’s prosperity, he outplayed many of the then “heroes”, but in his performance they did not seem cardboard and stilted.”
In 2005, in an interview, he complained about the lack of demand as an actor: “At one time I replayed a lot of roles, and now ... At the Franco Theater, I still go out in The Master and Margarita and Oedipus Rex, and even in the Russian drama busy in the play "Dear Liar". Unfortunately, he didn’t appear in the cinema for a long time - however, they almost don’t shoot him here ... ”

He died on August 10, 2006 in Kyiv. He was buried at Baikovo Cemetery.
