Sergey Kalantai (b. May 31, 1964, Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR) is a Ukrainian-German theater and film actor, actor of the Ivan Franko Theater in Kyiv. Honored Artist of Ukraine (2019).
Born May 31, 1964 in Kyiv. He graduated from the Kiev secondary school No. 201. He received his higher theatrical education in 1981 at the Kiev National University of Theater, Cinema and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary (course of Professor V.I. Zimnyaya), graduated from the university in 1985 with a diploma in actor of drama theater and cinema.
Since 1982, he began acting in films, making his debut in the film by B. I. Savchenko "Even before the war." Since 1985, he worked at the Variety Theater and the Youth Theater in Kyiv, but was drafted into the army. He was demobilized with the rank of senior sergeant in 1987, after which he was enrolled in the troupe of the Kiev Theater on Podil, where he worked for the next five years. At the same time, he performed on the stage in the Cossack duet "Lys Mykita" with Anatoly Gnatyuk.
In 1991 he was awarded the title of laureate of the republican competition of variety artists in Uzhgorod and the award for the best acting work at the Golden Lion theater festival in Lviv (play "Nativity scene")
In 1992 he moved to a permanent place of residence in Germany (Munich).
In 1996 he made his debut at the Fisch und Plastik theater in Munich.
In 1997-1999, he taught acting at the Otto Falkenberg Schule State Theater School in Munich, worked in the theater and starred in German, Austrian, Swiss television and film projects.
Since 2000 he has been teaching acting at the private theater school Athanor Akademie in Burghausen. In the same year, as an actor, he played in the theater - the EXPO 2000 project in Hannover and entered the highest German acting school DSA for the specialty MEDIA director and actor TV and RADIO, (Munich). He graduated from the DSA High School and received a diploma in MEDIA-director and TV and RADIO actor.
From 2002 to 2008 he was a regular actor at the Fisch und Plastik theater in Munich.
During this time, he starred in more than 20 films, programs in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
He is fluent in German, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.
Played 12 major roles and 75 major supporting roles in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian film and television projects.
Since 2016, he has been an actor in the troupe of the Ivan Franko National Drama Theatre.
