The quiver tree (lat. Colletia cruciata) is a species of shrubs and trees native to South America. It got its name from the sharp, prickly branches and leaves. The quiver usually grows in dry and sandy areas where water and nutrients are scarce for many other plant species. However, it can be used to protect soil from erosion and to create hedges. The flowering of the quiver tree occurs in spring or summer, when beautiful white or pink flowers appear on its branches, which are fragrant and attract bees and other insects.
