The history of Pravo.ru began in 2007, when the owner of the design studio Park, Alexey Pelevin, met Dmitry Chirakadze, the main shareholder of North-Eastern Alliance Bank and the owner of a legal business in Moscow. Chirakadze hired Pelevin to develop the design of the website for an online publication about judicial practice, which in 2008 started working under the name Pravo.ru. In the absence of competition among the media, the publication became widely known in the professional community: the Russian Agency for Legal and Judicial Information within the structure of RIA Novosti was opened only in February 2009
