Gazprom is a global energy company focused on geological exploration, production, transportation, storage, processing and sales of gas, gas condensate and oil, sales of gas as a vehicle fuel, as well as generation and marketing of heat and electric power.

What is natural gas

Gazprom views its mission as ensuring a reliable, efficient and balanced supply of natural gas, other energy resources and their derivatives to consumers.

Gazprom’s strategic goal is to strengthen its leading position among global energy companies by diversifying sales markets, ensuring energy security and sustainable development, improving operating efficiency and fulfilling its scientific and technical potential.

Gazprom holds the world’s largest natural gas reserves. The Company’s share in the global and Russian gas reserves amounts to 16 and 71 per cent respectively.

As the world’s leading gas producer, Gazprom accounts for 12 per cent of the global gas output and 68 per cent of domestic gas production. At present, the Company is actively implementing large-scale gas development projects in the Yamal Peninsula, the Arctic shelf, Eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East, as well as a number of hydrocarbon exploration and production projects abroad.

Gazprom is a reliable supplier of gas to Russian and foreign consumers. The Company owns the world’s largest gas transmission system, the total length of which within the boundaries of Russia reaches 175.2 thousand kilometers. Gazprom sells more than half of its gas to Russian consumers and exports gas to over 30 countries within and beyond the former Soviet Union.

Gazprom is one of the largest producers and exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Russia. The Company is successfully expanding its LNG sales within the existing Sakhalin II project and implementing new initiatives in order to substantially strengthen its position in the fast-growing global LNG market.

Gazprom is among the top four oil producers in the Russian Federation. The Company also owns major power-generating assets accounting for some 16 per cent of the total installed capacity of the national energy system. In addition, the Company ranks number one in Russia in terms of thermal energy generation.

Gazprom is a model of efficiency as regards the use of green technologies along the entire production chain. The Company has the lowest carbon footprint among oil and gas majors.
